It’s All I Can Do To Keep From Crying Right Now

Katie’s a sweet gal, no doubt about it; but sometimes I forget how much more highly-attuned my sense of romance is.  We were checking out songs in the 69-cent bin on iTunes to see if we were missing anything, and we came across ‘Wild Horses’ by The Sundays.

Me:  Oh my god it’s that song.

Katie:  What song?

Me:  You know that song.

Katie:  No.

Me:  [becoming agitated]  It was on Buffy.

Katie:  I don’t remember it.  How does it go?

Me:  Stop it.  You know the song.  It’s the ‘wild horses couldn’t drag me away’ song, the song from the prom.

Katie:  Sorry.

Me:  Buffy and Angel danced to ‘Wild Horses’ at the prom!  He wasn’t going to be there but there he was!

Katie:  [blank stare]

Me:  IT WAS ONLY THE MOST ROMANTIC THING I’VE EVER SEEN!

Katie:  Sorry.

Me:  [long pause]  How can you live and not remember Buffy’s prom?

  1. That song reminds me more of the roller coaster scene in “Fear” with Marky Mark and Reese Witherspoon. It’s a different kind of romance. The gross kind. Also, that song is just beautiful.

    • If there was any chance I’d see that movie you’re talking about, there it went.

      • It’s terrible. I like to say it’s my favorite movie.

  2. I believe you misunderstood my confusion, Toogie. I DO remember Buffy’s prom, and Angel showing up. I just couldn’t remember the song. So there.

    • If you don’t remember the song, you don’t remember the moment. Double so there.
