FSX Friday Update – The Legend Is Back

I’m guest posting again this afternoon since I took off to go see Jenny’s Battle of the Books competition (her team didn’t win). So Lee could continue his crazy awesome writing work (he finished another chapter this afternoon ahead of schedule) and not have to worry about the update. If he does worry about the update. But no one should have to go without a weekly update, right? Right.

The market’s kind of boring this week, pretty much flat (Nasdaq +0.4%, Dow -0.1%, S&P +0.3%), so I think I don’t even need to discuss the market. But I should inform you that the Nasdaq crossed 3,000 this week for the first time since 2002. I can’t think of anything exciting that happened this week in the markets, probably because I don’t actually read any kind of market news. Do you think Lindsay Lohan’s terrible looking face impacts the market? I certainly can’t handle it.
Anyway. The FSX underperformed compared to the market, down 1%, with 18 of 25 stocks lower. And I’m just going to go ahead and say it’s not my immediate family’s fault. So there, the rest of you. Jenny, Reagan and Brinky were all up, and Lee and I didn’t suck as bad as some others. And if you didn’t know why we’re having a good week besides what I’ll mention below for the kids and Lee’s awesome writing and my good stuff happening at work, I’ll tell you. Today Lee’s been sober for three years. We’re not sure if the official anniversary should be the last day of drinking or the first day sober, but it’s amazing either way, and we’re not going to go to an AA meeting to ask how they handle anniversaries. I’ll just say that life is good now for all of us, I think, and so we’re up, okay?

Advancers:

  • Lulu (+5.8%) – A new all time high for Lulu. I don’t know why. It’s so wet and gross outside that she’s been inside more. And sometimes she’ll stay inside, unlike Marisa who will go in and out constantly. Which drives Lee crazy. And I think sometimes makes Lulu Lee’s favorite cat.
  • Reagan (+5.4%) – I cut Reagan’s hair this week, and I think she sort of likes it, even though she’s secretly told Lee she doesn’t like it. She wanted it cut, so it’s cut. I think the real reason she’s up is because Jenny’s not having three friends sleep over tonight like she did last weekend, which caused Reagan to lose her mind.
  • Ruby (+4.9%) – I think Mom’s up because of a 12 hour sleep she got a couple nights ago. Who wouldn’t be up after a great night’s sleep?
  • Jenny (+4.7%) – Jenny’s doing so well academically lately that it’s hard to believe. It’s cool. And while she’s still going to shadow at one more middle school, I think she’s secretly made her choice. We’ll have a better idea next week.
  • Brinky (+2.1%) – Brinky’s enjoying the two new skills he’s mostly mastered recently: clapping and waving (if you can call flapping an arm waving). It makes him so happy and proud to do either one. And he’s discovered a new song he enjoys: the Glee version of Gives You Hell. Now if only Jenny would actually let him keep her iPod Touch forever. And eat it.

Decliners:

  • Mario (-4.0%) – Two rough things in Mario’s life recently: the closing of Sonic restaurants in his area and the lack of TV shows for us to discuss each week. Fortunately 90210 will be back in a couple weeks even though neither of us is really enjoying it anymore, and Mad Men comes back at the end of this month.
  • Jodi Ann (-5.4%) – I’m not sure what’s going on with Jodi Ann lately. I think I may need to request an update. I did see on Facebook that she got a wedding dress, so maybe if she shares pictures of it, she’ll move up. And if the weather improves. I believe she’s a fan of the warm weather.
  • My dad (-5.9%) – Dad watched the Oscars for Billy Crystal, but he wasn’t even that funny (according to Dad). Maybe because he’s getting too old and looks a little fake, and the movies were boring?
  • Icarus (-7%) – Is Icarus upset about Charlotte’s almost definite decision to move to North Carolina? Maybe so. She’ll probably allow visits though.
  • Namilita (-8%) – Maybe they’re ready for a move. Will they remain indoor cats once they’re in North Carolina? I bet Brinky would love to meet Charlotte’s cats.
  • Marcus (-12%) – Marcus, I think this is a sure sign that it’s time for you to update me on what’s going on with you guys. You’ll surely go right back up if you do.

That’s it, everyone. Enjoy your weekend.

  1. Brinky getting to meet my cats is a good plus to moving to NC! Brinky clapping and flapping his arms is a good plus to moving to NC, too.

  3. Update on its way! We are having breakfast for dinner, but we’ll be home soon. I just wanted to say how proud I am of Lee, and of you, too. I love you both. Happy anniversary — or am I supposed to say something else? I will just say that you guys are the best.
