Brinky Cup – Week 10

Week 10 marked the return of the 16-game slate, giving lurkers at the top and at the bottom of the standings an opportunity to make up (or make down) ground in a hurry.  Alas, the week’s runaway winner was mediocrity.  It was an outstanding mediocrity, though: 15 of our 16 competitors won between seven and nine games, the most tightly-bunched finish I can remember.  Only Reagan distinguished herself in Week 10, powering her way to a 5-11 record with a combination of bad luck and belief in the Colts.  The overall standings were barely disturbed by the non-week; Dark Mario extended his Brinky Cup lead by a single game while seeing his impossible dream of a one-two finish slip away, a well-deserved karmic slow-your-roll from the universe.  In the equally-important Bizarro Brinky Cup standings, perennial champion Ruby extended her de-lead last week only to see a Reagan de-surgence in Week 10.  Ruby now de-leads the Bizarro race by only one over Ray Gun, with Justicole and Katie two and three games in the rear, respectively.  Here are the complete Week 10 results:

  • 9-7 (5):  Jenny, Jodi Ann, Lee, Dark Lee, Dark Mario
  • 8-8 (7):  Brinkley, Charlotte, Justin, Lisa, Marcus, Ruby, Tara
  • 7-8 (3):  Katie, Mario the Elder, Mario the Younger
  • 5-11 (1):  Reagan

  1. I have confidence that I will maintain last place. If I must give it up to anyone, I would prefer it to be Reagan. What greater gift could a granddaughter ask for?

    • You haven’t seen her Christmas list.

  2. I like the name Justicole. I forgot to tell you – or maybe Nicole did? – that she deserved a bit more credit because she pointed out that Justin never would have sent picks to you if she hadn’t reminded him it was important to do so.

I think I could still lose.

    • Then she can have 55% of nothing and Justin can have 45%. I’m all about fairness.
