Bizarro World

Jenny just tried to get Reagan in trouble…for cleaning their room too much.  “It’s just she tries to clean it every day!” Jenny complained.  “And she can’t do it all herself so I have to help!  It’s not fair!”  I can’t argue with that, because it’s coming from an insane place of spoiled brattage that is impervious to reason.

  1. I am always fascinated by the concept of fairness, because I hear it as the basis for most arguments from my students and their parents — and from my colleagues, actually. “Fair” is no longer a meaningful word, and it really does start in childhood. I want to know how it gets cemented, though — whether it’s a product of storytelling or media or just some innate sense of justice. Also, I am boring and think about garbage.
