Honorable Discharge

The couch has been a faithful ally these four months, and Brinkley appreciates it as much as I do.  Alas, he is an unmanageable giant.  I discovered him like this, completely asleep yet well on his way to scooting backwards onto the floor.

It’s fortunate that I check on him frequently, and that his anchoring torso is even gianter than his giant legs.  And so I must relieve the couch from active nap duty.  We will uncat the actual crib in his actual room this weekend and I’ll allow him to nap upstairs, away from view.  Or…I will panic and haul the crib downstairs as soon as Katie leaves for work on Monday.

Here he is on the first day of Operation Simba, barely taking up half a couch cushion:

Now it’s four months later and he’s twice as big.  He now also has light brown hair that borders on auburn in the right light, instead of that jet black Italian business he started with.  Not coincidentally, my hair is quickly becoming a different color as well.  I’ll bet you can guess which color.

  1. I just don’t understand why he has to move so much. I think the crib may be the safest place for him now – during the day and night. If we shut the cats out of the room.
