The Battle’s Done And We Kinda Won

Filed under: House,Operation Coda — lbej @ 08:32

In the past four months I have made steady progress toward Imperial restoration.   Many départements of the Empire have been set right, including but not limited to the basement, the front porch, the family room, the dining room, the kitchen, the laundry room/pantry, the main staircase, the patio, the master bedroom (ex-carpet) and all three bathrooms.  My objective was to undo the damage of the previous regime while establishing reasonable and sustainable maintenance practices.  I am retroactively renaming this entire undertaking Operation Coda, because it marks the end of a misbegotten period in Imperial history of which domestic squalor was the most obvious feature, if far from the most damnable.  Here is what remains for Operation Coda:

  1. Win the Pet Nasty War by reconquering the Cat Litter Room;
  2. Finish the floor in the upstairs hall;
  3. A final massive purge of all items I deem to be unnecessary.

If I have forgotten anything I’m sure Ruby will remind me.

I will make the final push of Operation Coda beginning this coming Monday, May 17.  I am then giving myself the 33 days until my 33rd birthday to win the Pet Nasty War and close out Operation Coda.  Cleanup operations will take place between June 20 and June 30, after which I will celebrate the 6-month anniversary of the victory over my professional career.  During the cleanup phase I will meet with the Imperial General Staff for a Where Do We Go From Here? conference to decide, well, where we go from here.

My thanks to all.  Never in the course of human history has so me done so much for myself and the other people who live here, or words to that effect.

  1. I think you’ve done a tremendous job and can’t really add anymore! The pictures of the basement are fabulous, as are the pictures of the steps! I can’t wait to view the remainder of your work.
