Do What Must Be Done – The Soundtrack

I have been asked by myself if there is a particular piece of music that should accompany a final offensive certain to destroy the enemy.  A composition which will put a menacing cape on you mentally when you are striding forward across the breach to cleave the helms of the enemy.  After much research and reflection, I have determined that there are two such pieces of music.

Do What Must Be Done Theme #1: Mars, The Bringer of War by Gustav Holst (from The Planets).  The recording I prefer is Herbert von Karajan conducting the Vienna Philharmonic.  The whole piece is useful, but the army really only needs 90 seconds or so.  Specifically, beginning at 2:57 in the von Karajan recording through to about 4:30.  The build-up is important but the troops should go over the top at 3:51.

Do What Must Be Done Theme #2: Shook Ones Pt. II by Mobb Deep.  When it’s time for warm hearts to turn cold, this will do it.  Switch to this from Mars once the troops are in the enemy trenches and things get for real.
